Our Story

Generations of Holidays on the Blackwood River

There are places you visit once, and there are places that become part of the family story. Molloy Holiday Park is one of those places.

Set among the natural bushland of Augusta in Western Australia’s South West, Molloy has welcomed generations of families seeking a simple escape beside the Blackwood River. Over the years, the park has been known by different names – from Molloy Caravan Park, to Molloy Hideaway Holiday Park, and today, Molloy Holiday Park. While the name has evolved, the experience at the heart of Molloy has remained much the same: nature, river adventures, wildlife and time spent together.

For some families, Molloy is now a tradition spanning four generations. Grandparents who once arrived with their own children now return with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing the same fishing spots, riverbanks and holiday traditions they remember from years before.

Molloy Holiday Park - Our Story

Life Along the Blackwood River

The Blackwood River is central to the story of Molloy. Flowing for approximately 300 kilometres through Western Australia’s South West before reaching the Southern Ocean at Augusta, it is the longest continuously flowing river in the region.

Long before holidaymakers discovered its peaceful banks, the Blackwood River and surrounding country held deep significance for the Traditional Custodians of the South West. Later, the river became closely connected with the development of communities, farming, forestry and recreation throughout the region.

Today, the Blackwood continues to shape life at Molloy.

Days here can begin with the sound of birds in the trees and end beside the river as the sun disappears behind the bush. Guests come to fish, boat, kayak, canoe, row, waterski and explore the waterways, while others are perfectly happy finding a quiet place along the bank and watching the world go by.

From Molloy Caravan Park to Molloy Holiday Park

Many long-time guests still remember the property as Molloy Caravan Park – a relaxed riverside getaway where holidays were uncomplicated and days were spent outdoors.

As the park developed, it became Molloy Hideaway Holiday Park, a name that captured something guests had known for years: Molloy really did feel like a hideaway.

Today, a new chapter has begun as Molloy Holiday Park.

The refreshed name and identity celebrate what has always made Molloy special while preparing the park for another generation of visitors. The facilities, accommodation and experiences may continue to evolve, but Molloy isn't about becoming a polished resort. Its character comes from its connection to the landscape and the relaxed way people holiday here.

Four Generations of Molloy Memories

Perhaps the most important part of Molloy's story isn't found in a building or a sign. It's found in the people who keep coming back.

For decades, families have returned to Molloy year after year. Children have learned to fish here, launched their first kayak, spotted kangaroos outside their accommodation and spent long summer days playing by the river. Years later, many return as adults with children of their own.

Today, some families visiting Molloy represent four generations of guests.

Those generations have watched the park change, but many of the things they love have stayed wonderfully familiar – the Blackwood River, the bush, the wildlife, the boats on the water and the freedom of spending a holiday outdoors.

A Different Kind of South West Escape

Molloy offers a quieter side of the Margaret River and Augusta region.

Stay in a cabin or cottage, bring the caravan or camper, or settle into a campsite surrounded by nature. From here, guests can explore Augusta, the Blackwood River and the wider Margaret River region, or choose not to venture very far at all.

Kangaroos and native wildlife are regular visitors. The river provides endless opportunities for adventure. And after dark, the relative absence of city lights creates beautiful conditions for stargazing and night-sky viewing, with the Aurora Australis occasionally visible from Australia's southern regions when conditions are right.

It's an experience that's increasingly difficult to find – uncomplicated holidays, surrounded by nature, with time to reconnect.

The Next Chapter

The story of Molloy continues.

From Molloy Caravan Park, to Molloy Hideaway Holiday Park, to the Molloy Holiday Park of today, each chapter has added something new while preserving the character that keeps guests returning.

We want the next generation to discover the same things generations before them found here: mornings on the Blackwood, kangaroos wandering nearby, children exploring outside, evenings beneath the stars and holidays that become family traditions.

Because Molloy isn't simply somewhere you stay.

It's somewhere you return to.

Molloy Holiday Park. Nature Awaits.
